SWER Inline Strain Pole for Rural Electrification
The picture on the left depicts a SWER in line strain pole on a 12.7 kV SWER system. This type of construction is also sometimes called a section pole
It is used every couple of kilometres in hilly country to help to prevent "cascade failure" , polymer insulators could also be used in the place of the ceramic disc insulators pictured.
